Resource conservation and recycling are two ways of protecting our environment. Recycling raw materials quite simply means that fewer primary raw materials need to be mined – and reduces the irreparable damage that such mining activities have on our landscape. Protecting our environment is an issue that is close to our hearts – both at local and global level. Which is why we collaborate with experts, such as NABU (German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), to maximise our efforts. This association advises us, for example, on how natural resources can be conserved or how recycled raw materials can be used and supports us as we call for a more sustainable society. Both our and NABU's primary goal is the same: that as many products as possible (preferably all) should be able to be re-used or recycled.
REMONDIS and NABU are founding members of the 'Resource Conservation Alliance' (Allianz Ressourcenschonung). To learn more, go to the section on Advice
REMONDIS is an official partner of NABU
One of the focuses of our work with NABU is on protecting our moors and preventing climate change. We demonstrate our support here by sponsoring NABU's efforts in this area as well as by promoting and practising the recycling of kitchen and garden waste. Our commitment here not only covers the area of technology but also comprises socio-political components. On the one hand, we deploy state-of-the-art processes to produce biogas, ensuring that organic waste is treated in a highly efficient and environmentally sound way (see our showcase project in Coesfeld). On the other, we have been calling on those responsible to make better use of the biowaste produced across the country. The first step here would be for every household in Germany to have a separate bin exclusively for organic waste – something that has, in fact, been required by law since 2015.
Being one of the world’s leading recycling, service and water businesses with over 30,000 employees, everything we do revolves around sustainability. We ensure that the environment is protected and that natural resources are conserved in over 30 countries across four continents.
