What Silicon Valley is for the world of IT is what the Lippe Plant in Lünen is for the recycling industry. This site – where our head office is based – demonstrates in a truly impressive fashion just what can be achieved when it comes to sustainable architecture. Take a look at the question of energy for example: the Lippe Plant has its own power station which covers 50% of the site's electricity requirements and 100% of the steam and compressed air needed by the various facilities. Environmentally and resource-friendly secondary fuels are used to generate this energy. These fuels are produced from waste products, including those from the rendering plant located on site which uses processing systems that are unique across the whole of Europe.
We set ourselves a truly ambitious goal for 2010. We wanted to erect a new head office building that enabled us to use our own products and processes wherever possible and which should be a prime example of energy efficiency. The result is something we can be proud of. The following images and captions will tell you more.
Our new head office building truly is sustainable in every sense of the word. The bricks used to line the walls are expected to last for at least 100 years
We are more than happy to invite groups so that they can see REMONDIS' energy-saving and recycling activities with their own eyes. Groups must register in advance to go on a tour around the Lippe Plant – simply contact us to arrange a date. The easiest way is by email.
